Caffe Cherry Beans - Civic is a quietly tucked-away cafe situated on the first floor of the Canberra Centre, offering a relaxed spot for locals and visitors seeking a calm break from the busier shopping areas. With its location near Muji and surrounded by other shops and offices, it naturally draws a mix of shoppers, professionals, and casual visitors looking for a comforting coffee or a simple lunch.

The ordering process is straightforward—customers order and pay at the counter, then take a numbered table to await their food and drinks. This arrangement suits those who want a casual, no-fuss experience without the pressure of formal table service. The interior feels spacious and clean, with a quiet atmosphere that especially appeals during colder or windy weather when outdoor seating isn’t ideal.

The menu leans into classic cafe choices with a small but thoughtfully curated selection. Coffee takes center stage here, with drinks like cappuccinos, soy flat whites, and a half-sweetened, extra-hot chai latte made to order standing out. Patrons mention the consistency of the coffee quality, though it can vary slightly. Food options range from breakfast staples such as eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and halloumi benedict, to lighter, health-conscious choices like Greek yoghurt with granola or beetroot and spinach salad with chicken. There are also heartier items like chicken and waffles or ham, cheese, and tomato toasties for those seeking something more filling.

Midday tends to be livelier, with the space filling up around lunch, making it less ideal for those after a quiet spot. The staff are approachable and attentive, adding to the easy-going vibe. The cafe’s position inside the Canberra Centre means it often serves as a convenient pause point for shoppers or workers in the area, combining modest prices with a peaceful setting that avoids the typical hustle found in busier food courts.

Overall, Caffe Cherry Beans - Civic is best enjoyed as a relaxed daytime stop for quality coffee coupled with straightforward, fresh food. It suits anyone wanting a comfortable spot to recharge partway through a shopping trip or a casual lunch with coworkers, especially during cooler seasons when a cozy interior is appreciated.

Nice quiet little spot for a quick coffee and lunch. Located in one of my favourite corners in the Canberra Centre, Cherry Beans has a nice small menu, great specials and good coffee. Haloumi bruschetta was really good - very fresh ingredients. A peaceful break from the hustle of the main centre.

Good mocha as you can see as well as a small but delicious pancake/crepe. Franchise nicely located on the first floor of the Canberra centre surrounded by many other shops and businesses. Has got some solid choices for lunch as well and gets quite full aroubd lunch time.

Really friendly staff, great service. Nice atmosphere and it's in a cosy, tucked away spot. Great pay milk chai latte (half sweetness, extra hot) and made exactly as I requested.

Quiet place inside the Canberra Centre near Muji for coffee and breakfast when it’s cold and windy outside. Order and pay at the counter. Grab a number and wait for drinks and food to be served at your table. Food and coffee were good. Friendly staff.

Lovely quiet, spacious and clean cafe in the Canberra Centre (top level). Tables are numbered and order at the counter. Coffee variable but mostly good! Good selection of cafe style food with daily chef specials. Healthy options are available such as some interesting salads with the choice of added protein such as salmon or chicken. Plenty of sweet treats. My ham, cheese and tomato toastie was tasty but the ham and tomato were cold so next time I’ll ask if they can warm everything first. Mainly I love the fact it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle. June 2022: Have been back several times and the cafe is getting busier but overall still good service and I do like the salads on offer.
